The 72 Film Fest is an annual time based film competition where teams have 72 hours to make a movie. Based just outside the DC/Baltimore metropolitan area in Frederick, MD- 72 Film Fest inspires and challenges filmmakers to create a movie based around a specific annual theme.
AFI DOCS is also the only film festival in the United States that offers the unique opportunity to connect film audiences with national opinion leaders, filmmakers and intriguing film subjects. With conversations and experiences you won’t experience at any other film festival, AFI DOCS harnesses the power of this important art form and its potential to inspire change.
ANNAPOLIS FILM FESTIVAL
The vision for the Annapolis film festival is to establish Annapolis as a center for filmmakers to showcase different global perspectives and independent thought to a variety of audiences through their work. The long-term goal is to enhance growth both culturally and economically to the Annapolis area and throughout the region. The mission of the Annapolis Film Festival is to encourage and grant the development of all aspects of the creative arts in and around Annapolis through the cinema experience. With independent films, panels and special showcases that will inspire, enlighten and entertain diverse audiences on a variety of topics, the festival will ensure the promotion of Annapolis as a cultural arts center. It will also define the economic impact on the town as community engagement broadens.

The Baltimore International Black Film Festival promotes and celebrates culturally significant films directed, produced, and staring African American and members of the African Diaspora. We also prominently feature and celebrate films with content of interest to the Same Gender Loving – Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender (SGL-LGBT) community. COMMUNITY STORIES FESTIVAL
The Community Stories Festival, produced by Docs In Progress, spotlights contemporary and historical documentaries about our people, places, and events of Maryland, Washington DC, and Northern Virginia. What began in 2010 as a one night showcase of Docs In Progress student work has grown to become a week-long series of public screenings of films by everyone from professional filmmakers to first-time adult and youth filmmakers, sharing stories from our local community. Each year, more than 500 people engage with filmmakers, those who have been filmed, and scholars at screenings, discussions and community workshops.
DC SOUTHEAST ASIAN FILM FESTIVAL
Hosted by DC South Asian Arts Council Inc, a non profit 501 (c) (3) organization, the Washington DC South Asian Film Festival (DCSAFF) is one of the most celebrated screen events on the Washington, D.C. cultural calendar. The festival takes place annually in the heart of America’s capitol, showcasing the best in alternative cinema from India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

The Queen City Film Festival, Western Maryland’s premiere film festival, is held each year in early Fall in Cumberland, Maryland. Queen City Film Festival offers a four-day program of screenings and educational panels, and welcomes filmmakers from around the world. Located in Allegany County, Cumberland offers a delightful blend of hospitality and history; mingled with charming shops, delicious dining, arts and entertainment and lots of events and activities.
UTOPIA FILM FESTIVAL
The Utopia Film Festival searches for and presents films that explore utopian visions in a multitude of forms: cultural, social, political, and environmental to name but a few. From its inception, Utopia has sought quality independent films which reflect the utopian spirit of better living through film: works that entertain, enlighten, and address such themes as community building, cultural diversity, social and economic concerns, and environmental issues. The Utopia Film Festival is also a dedicated supporter of locally produced films and films that focus on local subjects. In addition to these two primary thematic programs, the festival also has several other specialty programs that include experimental films, animated films for the young, and films to celebrate the Halloween season.

With film screenings, panel discussions, and networking, the Annual Wheaton Film Festival is a great showcase for filmmakers from the mid-Atlantic region and for films that involve the mid-Atlantic region.
